Scott Govenar

Mr. Govenar is a Partner at Governmental Advocates, Inc., having joined the lobbying and consulting firm in 1996. Mr. Govenar has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing legislative and regulatory advocacy strategies on behalf of a multitude of private sector clients. Mr. Govenar has focused extensively but not exclusively on commercial and industrial construction, product safety, tribal gaming, private higher education, and financial services.

During his tenure at Governmental Advocates, Mr. Govenar had led efforts to establish reasonable regulatory oversight of private higher education institutions, stop overly burdensome consumer product standards, develop equitable indemnification standards in the construction industry and generally ensure that the business climate for his clients remains favorable.

Prior to joining Governmental Advocates, Mr. Govenar was an Account Executive at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide in Los Angeles and before that he was with the public relations firm of Valencia, Perez & Echeveste in Pasadena. In addition to public relations, Mr. Govenar has an extensive background in the entertainment industry having worked for International Creative Management and the Fox Broadcasting Company.

A native of Southern California, Mr. Govenar holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern California.

Scott lives in Sacramento with his wife, two kids, Labrador Retriever and turtle.
