Melissa Cortez-Roth is a Partner at Governmental Advocates. She joined the firm in 2000. Prior to joining Governmental Advocates, Melissa worked in the State Capitol as a Legislative Aide for a member of the California State Assembly and for the Joint Legislative Audit Committee.

At Governmental Advocates, Melissa works on a variety of issues, however she specializes in healthcare, workers' compensation, renewable energy and the state budget. She has worked with professional associations, corporations and non-profit organizations. In addition to working with the Legislature and Administration, she has successfully worked on a variety of regulations with state agencies and boards.

Melissa currently lobbies on behalf of Autism Speaks, the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, CompPharma, Helios, California Wind Energy Association, CoverMyMeds, MiMedx, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, the University of Phoenix, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Melissa is an active member of Capitol Network, an organization which supports political women’s networking as well as philanthropic activities. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Journalism from the California State University at Sacramento.

Melissa and her husband Jerry live in Elk Grove with their daughter Amber.
